Why not just divide by 365.25
Because it gives the wrong answer. Age is a calendar fact, not an elapsed-time one: someone born on 29 February is a year older on 1 March in a common year, and no average year length reproduces that. This walks the calendar instead — years, then months, then the remaining days.
Dates are read as UTC. Otherwise the same birth date would give a different age depending on the time zone the browser happens to be in, which is not a property anyone expects of a birthday.
Korean age
The traditional Korean count starts at one at birth and adds a year every 1 January, so it runs one or two ahead of the international count. Korea moved to the international count in official use in June 2023, but the traditional number is still what people say conversationally, so both are shown.
